Keeping the Right-of-Way Clean
What is the right-of-way? The right-of-way provides space for storm drainage, vehicle recovery, utilities and safe operation of the road. It is usually 33 feet each way from the center line of the road. The Township has the right and obligation to mow, trim and remove trees, brush and other obstructions within the right-of-way to ensure safety and visibility. In order to keep the right-of-way clear, it is important that property owners do the following:
- Do not install obstructions such as fences or significant landscaping within the right-of-way;
- Maintain the area by keeping the right of way clear of trees, brush, plants and crops so the Township does not have to remove these.
The Township Board and it's road maintenance contractors appreciate residents cooperation in maintaining our right-of-ways.
